Nothing and I say nothing, is more disturbing than waking up to that horrendous noise from those garden machines called - leaf blowers!
In my neighborhood you can bet that you will be woken up by that terrible sound at least 3 times a week. And when you do, you better run to close all the windows, or you risk of letting all that smog and dust in to your house. Yikes! What is wrong with this picture?
A person usually, carries a back pack kind of engine with a hose and starts blowing and blowing leaves away into a pile. What they don’t tell us, is that besides the leaves, also blowing is dog and rat poop, mercury, pesticides, mould spores, bacteria, and who knows what else, that I don’t dare to write, specially living in Hollywood. All of this accompanied by the high decibels, banned in most of California.
Imagine the health risk, of breathing all that stuff. But that is not all, these machines also pollute the air like crazy, specially if they are gas operated. Imagine having a generator on for hours blowing all their gas emissions at your window! And the NOISE!
Not so sure? you can read all of it in full detail Here and here and here .
As I sip on my latte, I’m wondering - What is the logic in this? We
are actually paying for this. That’s right paying, with money. Paying
for the service, paying for the machine, paying for the gas, paying to
pollute the air, paying to loose our hearing, paying to hurt our
lungs.
Do the math! The machines run anywhere form $50 to $500, the gas is $4 something, the doctors bill..well..
What is the solution? What can we do?
Well, embrace the 21st century with this amazing solution.
