Call Sheet Inspiring Stories.

by moviestar couture on May 3, 2009

sunsetkitchenI have been cleaning my office clutter, and found a bunch of call sheets from old projects I have worked in.

* For those of you not in the film and TV industries, wondering,  What is a Call Sheet?

A piece of paper, distributed every day,  usually the night before,  describing in detail the schedule of the day. The  start time, location, the scenes, cast, crew, equipment, props, wardrobe, make up, etc.. All the information that is necessary to stay on track, so we all know what we are doing and when. It’s like a daily plan of action, created by the assistant director. It also contains, useful information, such as  hospitals near by, type of clothes to wear, etc.

Some of them have become collectibles, and are found in auction sites.

Reading them is like a ride straight to memory lane.  They bring amazing memories, and I can close my eyes and transport myself  to the set.  Some of my funny memories, have to do with  the film lingo, which can be quite confusing for beginners.  I’m posting below, some of the funny stories I remember.

Feel free to add yours to the list, on the comments section below.

This one always makes me smile.
1st day on the job, in a little indie film, a PA, would get out of the stage, every time she heard, “Checking the gate”. Exhausted after a long day, she complained, that she had gone everywhere, and could not find the gate they said to check.
